Community Drop-in-Centre

The Community Drop-in-Centre @cally 334 has been officially open since June 07 and is the realization of a dream to have a dedicated Community Drop-in-Centre on the Caledonian Road.

The premises were renovated by Beef (Richard Frankland) and a team of the Young People who worked over an eight month period. The renovations used two Young people at a time on two week placements giving them experience and a sense of ownership.

The benefit of this was that the Community Drop-in-Centre is respected because of the effort so many put in.

The Community Drop-in-Centre has already become a hub for Young People who regularly visit for all manner of reasons throughout the day and we are working towards the Community Drop-in-Centre being open more late evenings a week.

The Community Drop-in-Centre is not a Youth Club but a place for small group workshops, where Young People, Families and the Local Community can access information about our Work-Streams and other Organisations and Agencies. It is a place they can all come and ask for help and assistance in any area of their life’s.

It is also a base for a Connexions Worker (Kate) every Monday afternoon, a fortnightly Drugs Drop-in from the Council (IDAT) Team, where our parents meet, a base for Literacy Programmes and other essential workshops.

The Community Drop-in Centre is also open to other Community Groups and has become a popular venue due to the excellent facilities and rates.

Our vision is to see the place open and staffed at least five evenings a week but this takes time, staff and ultimately Funding.

The main window is a show case for The CYP Art Flat and already has had some great exhibits displayed.

To get an idea of the transformation that took place why not have a look through the gallery of photos.
